Pearl Drops on Wire Hoops

Ancient Roman style hoops with white cultured freshwater pearl drops in either bronze or red brass. These are entirely handcrafted from wire, so there is some variation between pairs.

These are small, delicate dangles, measuring about 1 1/4 inches in total length. The hoops measure between 9/16 inches and 5/8 inches, and are made out of 20 gauge wire. The drops are on either 22 or 24 gauge wire, depending on how the pearls were drilled. The pearls are 7-8mm semi-round.

These are based on a well-attested style of earring, dating to the 1st-4th centuries CE. The self-loop on the bottom specifically comes from an earring in the British Museum, and while not as common as plain hoops, serves well to keep the drop safely on the earring.

The metal is untreated and will develop a patina with age and wear, and may react with some people and environments.
