Single (1) Earring with a White Freshwater Pearl Drop

from $12.50
This earring was made using white cultured freshwater pearls (C-D grade) on gold or silver plated brass findings and lever-back hoop ear-wires which are 11.5-12mm in diameter. The pearls are ovoid to teardrop-shaped, and available in the following sizes (which produce an earring which is about 1 inch-1.25 inches long, in total).

In the sixteenth and early seventeenth century, it was fashionable for men to wear one pearl teardrop earring- it can be seen in the portraits of Sir Walter Raleigh, Shakespeare, and the fictional Blackadder. The style resurfaced in the 1980s, and is back once again. These also work well for a mismatched assemblage of earrings.

Sizes (pearl length):
Extra Small (XS): 7-8mm long. These are very delicate little pearl drops.
Small (S): 8-10mm long. Think elongated "pea-sized."
Medium (M): 10-12mm long.
Large (L): 12-14 mm long.
Extra Large (XL): 14-17mm long. These are difficult to source- quantities are limited, and there tend to be more surface flaws present.
Please see images for size and shape differences.
The findings on these earrings are gold-plated or silver-plated brass.

This listing is for ONE EARRING. Multiple earrings are shown in photos to demonstrate variations. Two earrings purchased from this listing probably won't make as good of a pair as those I have listed in the Classic Pearls section of my shop, but I do try. Please reach out prior to ordering for custom requests. Please also note that plating is not forever, and will eventually wear off, and may be damaged by continuous wear, wear in the shower, pools, the ocean, etc. The silver plating is silver, and may tarnish. If you have sensitive ears, please reach out prior to ordering- I keep hypoallergenic options on hand.

If you're looking for a different color of pearl or different metal, please check out my Single Earrings shop section or send me a note.
